35000 Sq.Feet Long Tricolour Indian Flag Sets New World Record by Kalyan Lok Sabha Tiranga Rally

Around 20,000 participants carried the 7,012.5 feet × 5 feet -long Indian flag through Dombivli, surpassing the previous record of 3,600 feet

Dombivli, Maharashtra | 15 August 2026: In a grand display of patriotism, unity and national pride, the Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation, Dombivli, organised the “Vishwavikrami Tiranga Rally – Kalyan Loksabha 2026” to commemorate India’s 80th Independence Day.

Conducted in association with 100 supporting organisations and institutions, the historic rally created a new world record with an Indian tricolour measuring 7,012.5 feet × 5 feet in width.

The enormous tricolour covered a total area of approximately 35,062.5 square feet making it a spectacular visual symbol of national unity and collective participation. The achievement was officially adjudicated and confirmed by World Records India.

Approximately 20,000 participants collectively from over 100 organisations and institutions are carried the record-breaking tricolour through the streets of Dombivli. The rally commenced at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and proceeded to Zenda Chowk–Swatantryaveer Savarkar, transforming the entire route into a vibrant sea of saffron, white and green.

Paavan Solanki, CEO of World Records India, was present at the event to witness and adjudicate the record attempt. After verifying the record parameters and the successful completion of the attempt, he officially confirmed the achievement on behalf of World Records India. He subsequently presented the official record certificate to representatives of the organising authority in recognition of the historic accomplishment.

Previous Record Surpassed

The previous record was held by Maestro Shreemaashree Paramo, Founder of the I Aumaujaya United Young Stars Association (I AUYSA), Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and his team.

Under his leadership, the organisation conducted the patriotic celebration programme “I AUYSA Youth Brigade” on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day. During the programme, the team created an Indian national flag measuring 3,600 feet in length and six feet in width, covering a total area of 21,600 square feet.

The tricolour created during the Vishwavikrami Tiranga Rally measured 6,971.78 feet, surpassing the previous record by 3,371.78 feet—or approximately 1,027.7 metres. The new flag was almost twice as long as the earlier record-holding flag. Its total area of approximately 34,858.9 square feet was also 13,258.9 square feet greater than that of the previous flag.

The rally also paid tribute to India’s freedom fighters, national heroes and countless citizens whose sacrifices contributed to the country’s independence and development. Beginning at a square named after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and concluding at a location associated with Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the route added historical and patriotic significance to the occasion.

The presentation of the official record certificate by Paavan Solanki marked the successful culmination of the ambitious record attempt. With a length of 2,125 metres, a width of five feet and a total area of approximately 34,858.9 square feet, the tricolour became the defining feature of the Vishwavikrami Tiranga Rally – Kalyan Loksabha 2026.

The record-breaking Tiranga Rally will be remembered as a landmark event in Dombivli’s Independence Day celebrations and as a proud achievement for the Kalyan Lok Sabha region, Maharashtra and India.

Through this historic initiative, the Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation and its supporting organisations created a lasting symbol of patriotism while inspiring citizens to uphold the values of unity, responsibility and service to the country.
