Indore has achieved a remarkable environmental milestone by setting a world record after 13.1 lakh (1.31 million) saplings planted at a single location successfully grew into trees within two years. The achievement highlights the city’s sustained commitment to afforestation, environmental conservation, and long-term care of planted saplings.
The record was celebrated at Revati Range, where BJP National Organisation General Secretary B.L. Santosh and Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya witnessed the certification of the achievement.
The plantation initiative was undertaken as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. What began as a massive plantation drive evolved into a long-term conservation effort, with continued maintenance helping transform the previously rocky terrain into a flourishing green landscape.
Speaking at the event, Santosh emphasized that the objective went beyond simply creating a record. He said the saplings were planted with the larger purpose of improving the health of the planet and securing a greener future for coming generations.
The achievement demonstrates that large-scale plantation campaigns can create lasting environmental impact when followed by proper maintenance and monitoring. Indore’s transformation of 13.1 lakh saplings into thriving trees now stands as an impressive example of community-driven environmental conservation.
