Mahila Manovikas is set to make history with an ambitious World Record attempt by creating the world’s longest chain of crochet tricolour buntings. The remarkable installation, measuring nearly 13 kilometres in length and comprising more than 40,000 handmade crochet Tiranga buntings, will be displayed at Port Stadium, Akkayyapalem, showcasing the spirit of patriotism, craftsmanship, and community participation.
The record attempt is the result of months of dedicated effort by 330 participants spanning multiple generations from Visakhapatnam, various parts of India, and overseas. Working together with patience and precision, the participants handcrafted thousands of crochet tricolour buntings, reflecting the values of unity, creativity, and national pride.
The grand display has been organized to celebrate India’s cultural heritage while promoting the traditional art of crochet through large-scale public participation. Following the record attempt, a formal gathering of all contributors and participants will be held at CMR Function Hall, Venkojipalem, recognizing the collective effort behind the extraordinary achievement.
If officially recognized, this will become Mahila Manovikas’ fourth World Records title, further strengthening the organization’s legacy of empowering communities through creative initiatives and record-breaking accomplishments that blend art, culture, and patriotism.
