ZEE Marathi has marked two major milestones under its new brand philosophy “Paaul Pudhe Padlay… Jamlay!”, with popular shows ‘Home Minister’ and ‘Tarini’ pushing boundaries in distinctly different ways.
While ‘Home Minister’ entered the World Records after more than 2,500 women gathered in Kolhapur to perform a traditional aushakshan for host Aadesh Bandekar, ‘Tarini’ became the first Marathi television serial to shoot at the Attari-Wagah Border for its special ‘Operation Tiranga’ storyline.
The record-setting ‘Home Minister’ celebration took place, at Princess Padmaraje Girls High School in Mangalwar Peth, Kolhapur. More than 2,500 women came together at the same venue and simultaneously performed the traditional Maharashtrian aushakshan ceremony for Aadesh Bandekar. The large-scale cultural gathering was officially recognised by the World Records, marking a memorable beginning to the new chapter of the long-running television programme. Hosted by Aadesh Bandekar, ‘Home Minister’ has been associated with households across Maharashtra for around 20 years, building a strong connection with women and families through its distinctive format.
The Kolhapur record transformed the traditional practice of aushakshan, a symbol of affection, respect and blessings, into a massive public celebration. For Bandekar, the gathering also represented the affection he has received from viewers over the programme’s long journey.
In another milestone for the channel, ‘Tarini’ travelled to Amritsar and the Attari-Wagah Border to film scenes for its ‘Operation Tiranga’ track. Reports identified it as the first Marathi television serial to shoot at the iconic India-Pakistan border location. The storyline follows undercover officer Tarini as she takes on a national-security mission and assumes a new identity, Salma, while investigating a conspiracy. The border shoot gives the series a wider visual and narrative canvas while retaining its themes of courage, duty and justice.
Together, the two achievements reflect different aspects of ZEE Marathi’s evolving brand direction. ‘Tarini’ has expanded the scale of Marathi fiction by taking production to a landmark national location, while ‘Home Minister’ has transformed a familiar Maharashtrian tradition into a record-setting gathering involving thousands of women. With a world record in Kolhapur and a landmark shoot at the Attari-Wagah Border, ZEE Marathi has turned its “Paaul Pudhe Padlay… Jamlay!” philosophy into two notable milestones combining entertainment, culture and ambitious television production.
