Marvel’s Wolverine has officially entered the World Records, marking the sixth video game in which the iconic X-Men character appears in the leading role.
Wolverine’s journey as a solo video-game protagonist began in 1991 with Wolverine for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Developed by Software Creations, the two-dimensional platform game followed Logan after he became trapped on a remote island, with other members of the X-Men providing him with helpful clues.
Over the years, Wolverine has remained one of Marvel’s most popular video-game characters, appearing in several solo adventures and numerous ensemble titles.
In Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine, Australian actor Liam McIntyre provides the voice of Logan. The character was previously closely associated with voice actor Steve Blum, who portrayed Wolverine in 22 video games and earned a record for the most video-game voice performances as the Marvel superhero.
The new title expands beyond Wolverine’s individual story by incorporating several elements from the wider X-Men universe. Promotional material has featured the shape-shifting mutant Mystique and a powerful Sentinel, indicating that Logan will face threats connected to both his personal history and the broader mutant world.
Insomniac Games has applied its experience from the successful Marvel’s Spider-Man series while developing a darker, more intense and brutal adventure suited to Wolverine’s personality and fighting style. The game promises fast-paced combat, cinematic storytelling and an emotional exploration of Logan’s complicated past.
Wolverine also holds a major World Records achievement in cinema. Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman alongside Ryan Reynolds, earned more than $1.338 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing R-rated film in history.
With record-breaking achievements across both gaming and cinema, Wolverine continues to strengthen his position as one of the most successful and enduring characters in Marvel entertainment.
