Celebrated Indian ultra-distance runner Sufiya Khan, popularly known as Sufi Sufiyan, has achieved another extraordinary endurance milestone by completing a staggering 5,000-km run from Kanyakumari to Karakoram in 86 days and 2 hours.
The 39-year-old Jaipur-born ultra-runner, already known for multiple record-breaking endurance challenges, began her journey from India’s southern tip at Kanyakumari and travelled north through the country before reaching the Karakoram region in Ladakh on 6 August. Celebrating the completion of the demanding expedition, she announced the achievement on social media with the words, “We did it.”
During the same expedition, Sufiya also completed the approximately 4,167-km Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir stretch in 68 days and 23 hours, adding another remarkable achievement to her long-distance running career.
Sufiya is no stranger to extreme endurance challenges. Her previous accomplishments include long-distance runs covering India’s Golden Quadrilateral and the challenging Manali-Leh route, establishing her as one of the country’s most prominent ultra-runners.
The Kanyakumari-to-Karakoram expedition pushed the boundaries of human endurance as Sufiya navigated thousands of kilometres and dramatically changing terrain and conditions. The accomplishment adds another inspiring chapter to her record-breaking journey and showcases the extraordinary determination required for ultra-distance running.
