Maharashtra has achieved a remarkable milestone in renewable energy and agricultural development by installing 45,911 solar-powered agriculture pumps in just one month, setting a new world record under the state government’s ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krushipump’ scheme.
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) announced the achievement, highlighting the unprecedented scale and speed of solar pump installations across the state.
Under the ambitious scheme, 45,911 solar agriculture pumps were installed within a single month, providing farmers with access to clean and sustainable energy for agricultural irrigation. The initiative aims to reduce farmers’ dependence on conventional electricity while promoting the use of renewable energy in Maharashtra’s agricultural sector. According to MSEDCL, the massive installation drive has received World Records recognition, marking a significant achievement for the state.
A certificate presentation ceremony was held at the AURIC City grounds in Shendra MIDC, Maharashtra, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The recognition celebrates the coordinated efforts of the state government, MSEDCL, field teams and other stakeholders involved in implementing the solar agriculture pump programme on such a large scale.
The record-setting achievement demonstrates Maharashtra’s growing focus on renewable energy solutions for the farming community. Solar-powered pumps can enable farmers to operate irrigation systems using clean energy while reducing reliance on conventional power sources. With 45,911 installations completed in a single month, Maharashtra’s achievement represents a major milestone in the expansion of solar-powered agricultural infrastructure in India.
