Iowa State Fair Hosts Massive Pizza Party in World Record Attempt

Thousands of visitors at the Iowa State Fair came together on Sunday for a massive pizza party in an ambitious attempt to break the World Record for the largest pizza party. To qualify for the record, organizers needed at least 4,600 participants, with every person required to eat two slices of pizza and drink a beverage within 15 minutes. Organizers prepared nearly 900 pizzas, providing approximately 10,000 slices, while 18 commercial ovens were used to handle the enormous cooking operation.

The event attracted thousands of hungry fairgoers eager to participate in the potentially record-breaking celebration. Cami Toronto, brand marketing manager for Maverik Inc., said Iowa’s strong sense of community made the state an ideal location for the attempt. “Iowa is such an important community to us, and we’re really excited to be here. As we were considering where in our market we would want to do a record like this, Iowa was really the only answer for us. We just thought this was a perfect place to show off our pizza and to connect with our Iowa community.” The challenge was about more than simply attracting a large crowd. Participants had to meet the official requirements within the designated 15-minute period for their participation to count toward the record attempt.

Preparing enough food for thousands of participants required a major logistical effort. With nearly 900 pizzas and around 10,000 individual slices prepared, organizers used 18 commercial ovens to keep the event moving. The sight of thousands of fairgoers simultaneously enjoying pizza transformed the gathering into one of the standout events at the fair. While the organizers successfully staged the massive pizza party, official confirmation of whether the World Record was broken is still awaited. If verified, the achievement would add a new record-breaking chapter to the Iowa State Fair, with thousands of participants able to say they helped make pizza history.
