Canadian dog Chardonnay has set a World Records title by completing an extraordinary 56 jumps between people in just one minute.
Chardonnay achieved the record alongside her trainer, Jennifer Fraser, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The rapid performance required the dog to complete almost one accurately timed jump every second. Jennifer is also a multiple World Records title holder.
A dog’s jumping performance depends on several physical and mental abilities working together:
- Powerful hind-leg muscles generate the force needed for rapid take-offs.
- Flexible joints and spine help the dog adjust its body while jumping and landing.
- Balance and coordination allow quick changes in direction without losing rhythm.
- Fast visual processing helps the dog judge distances and respond to the trainer’s movements.
- Training and communication enable the dog to recognise cues and repeat the action consistently.
Chardonnay is an Australian Shepherd, a breed known for its intelligence, energy and responsiveness to training. She previously completed a 10-hoop slalom in 7.37 seconds with Fraser in October 2024.
The achievement demonstrates not only Chardonnay’s speed and athletic ability but also the strong communication, trust and extensive training shared between the dog and her handler.
