Swiss athlete Robin Steiner has soared into the record books after being launched an incredible 28.22 metres (92.58 feet) into the air from a giant inflatable airbag, setting a new World Records title for the “Greatest Height Achieved Launched from an Airbag (Blobbing).”

The record-breaking attempt took place in Brunnen, Schwyz, Switzerland, with Steiner teaming up with Luc Siegenthaler of Switzerland, Lennart Florczak of Germany and Tristan Kuhn of the United States.

The stunt involved three jumpers launching themselves onto a massive inflatable “blob” from a height of around 14 metres, creating enough force to propel Steiner high into the air. Their synchronized jump sent him soaring to 28.22 metres, smashing the previous record of 22 metres, which had stood since 2012. The previous record was held by German athletes Christian “Elvis” Guth, Christian von Cranach and Patrick Baumann.

The record attempt was organised with the help of Adrian Baumann and his brother Eric, who have been involved in blobbing events for around two decades. Adrian first met Steiner around four years ago when he attended one of their events. Steiner quickly demonstrated exceptional ability in the sport, eventually becoming the obvious choice to serve as the “pilot” for a new world record attempt.

The team actually broke the previous record on its first attempt by reaching approximately 23 metres, but they continued in search of an even greater height. Their second attempt produced the spectacular 28.22-metre launch, establishing the new World Records benchmark. The successful jump came under significant pressure, with bad weather approaching and one member of the team injured shortly before the attempt. A replacement jumper had to step in, and a storm reportedly arrived only minutes after the record-breaking launch.

Baumann and his team had previously achieved a blobbing record of around 17 metres in 2011, before losing the title to the German team the following year. More than a decade later, their latest attempt has taken the record considerably higher. With Robin Steiner reaching 28.22 metres above the launch point, the team has reclaimed the title and established a spectacular new benchmark in the extreme sport of blobbing. The achievement combines precision, teamwork, timing and courage, turning a giant inflatable airbag into the platform for one of the most dramatic record-breaking stunts of 2026.
