The Erode District Administration has earned a prestigious World Record for organizing the largest simultaneous book-reading event across multiple venues during the 22nd Erode Book Festival. The inspiring literacy initiative witnessed an extraordinary 2,06,760 participants reading books simultaneously at 519 locations across the district from 9:30 a.m. to 9:52 a.m., promoting the joy of reading on an unprecedented scale.

The record-breaking event was organized by the Erode District Administration in collaboration with Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited, the School Education Department, and Makkal Sinthanai Peravai. Students from schools and colleges, government officials, teachers, and members of the public came together to participate in the synchronized reading session, demonstrating a collective commitment to fostering a culture of reading and lifelong learning.

The official World Records certificate was presented to District Collector S. Kandasamy at the Collectorate in recognition of the remarkable achievement. The initiative highlighted the district’s dedication to encouraging literacy, intellectual development, and community participation through the celebration of books and education.

With 2,06,760 readers participating simultaneously across 519 venues, Erode District has established a new World Record, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in promoting education, reading habits, and knowledge-sharing through large-scale community initiatives.
