English club cricketer and endurance athlete Sam Bodoano completed an extraordinary 100-kilometre run before delivering a single cricket ball in an attempt to establish a new World Records title.
Bodoano began his journey at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and ran approximately 62 miles to Valley End Cricket Club in Woking, Surrey. The demanding overnight journey took nearly 14 hours to complete.
Wearing full cricket whites and carrying a red cricket ball throughout the run, Bodoano arrived at the club and delivered the opening ball of a match to his father, who was waiting at the crease.
Attempt for the Longest Cricket Bowling Run-Up
The challenge was undertaken as an attempt to establish the World Records title for the longest run-up before bowling a cricket ball.
Bodoano reportedly exceeded the previous benchmark of approximately 24 kilometres. However, the achievement remains subject to the official evidence-review and verification process of World Records.
Nearly £6,000 Raised for Charity
Beyond the sporting achievement, the challenge raised nearly £6,000 for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, a charity supporting families facing terminal cancer diagnoses and bereavement.
“I’m very tired, I lost a lot of sleep, but it was all for an amazing cause,” Bodoano said after completing the challenge.
By combining cricket with long-distance running, Bodoano transformed a routine opening delivery into an extraordinary demonstration of physical endurance and charitable commitment.
