RHINOSHIELD AirX Sets World Record with 30,607-Metre Near-Space Phone Drop

RHINOSHIELD, a global protective tech accessories brand, has achieved a remarkable milestone after its AirX Ultra-Cushioned Phone Case successfully completed an extreme near-space drop challenge at the Esrange Space Center in Sweden.

During the test conducted on June 24, a mobile phone protected by the AirX case was released from the stratosphere at an altitude of 30,607 metres (100,416 feet) above ground, earning a WORLD RECORDS™ title for the “Highest Drop of a Mobile Phone in a Phone Case (Natural Landforms).”

The record-setting challenge pushed the AirX phone case far beyond conventional everyday drop tests. A phone fitted with the protective case was carried to near-space altitude before being released from 30,607 metres, subjecting the device and case to extreme conditions during the descent. The successful completion of the test demonstrated the protective capabilities of the AirX case under conditions vastly more demanding than ordinary accidental drops.

RHINOSHIELD said the objective of the challenge was to go beyond conventional military-grade drop protection and demonstrate what the company describes as “space-grade protection.” Eric Wang, Co-founder and CEO of RHINOSHIELD, said the company wanted to push the limits of protective technology rather than stop at established industry standards. The near-space challenge was designed to demonstrate the case’s ability to combine impact protection, durability and structural performance under extreme conditions.

Alongside its protective performance, RHINOSHIELD highlighted the AirX case’s circular mono-material construction, which the company says is 100% recyclable. The brand positioned the design as evidence that high-performance protection can be developed without compromising on recyclability and material circularity. The record attempt therefore combined extreme product testing with the company’s broader focus on performance, design and sustainability.

By successfully protecting a phone during a drop from 30,607 metres above ground, RHINOSHIELD has established a distinctive benchmark in the mobile accessories industry. The achievement not only earned the AirX case a WORLD RECORDS™ title but also demonstrated how protective technology can be tested under extreme real-world conditions. With its record-breaking near-space drop, RHINOSHIELD has positioned the AirX Ultra-Cushioned Phone Case as an example of how durability, innovation and recyclable design can come together in next-generation protective accessories.
