The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved two World Records for setting new benchmarks in highway construction during the development of the Vanavolu–Vankarakunta section of the six-lane Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor. The milestone reflects India’s growing expertise in delivering world-class road infrastructure with speed, precision, and engineering excellence.
The two records include the longest continuous laying of Bituminous Concrete within 24 hours, covering approximately 29 lane kilometres, and the highest quantity of Bituminous Concrete laid continuously within 24 hours, exceeding 10,000 metric tonnes. The achievement was accomplished through meticulous planning, seamless coordination, and the dedicated efforts of engineers, contractors, and field personnel.
The 343-kilometre Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, facilitating faster transportation, promoting trade and tourism, and supporting regional economic development. NHAI also announced that two additional World Record attempts are currently underway on the Vanavolu–Vankarakunta–Odulapalle section of NH-544G, further showcasing India’s commitment to infrastructure excellence.
Congratulating the teams involved, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the achievement as a reflection of the Government of India’s vision for modern infrastructure under the leadership of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. He praised the engineers, workers, and project teams for their dedication in delivering record-breaking accomplishments that strengthen India’s national highway network.
