Assam’s Natyam the Green Theatre Sets World Record with Longest Bihu Dance Workshop

Natyam the Green Theatre, based in Nagaon, Assam, has achieved a remarkable World Record by conducting the Longest Bihu Dance Workshop, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Assam through an extended training initiative. The workshop was conducted over 30 days, culminating in a grand finale featuring 1,159 participants performing the traditional Bihu dance.

The month-long workshop provided participants with intensive practice sessions under expert guidance, promoting the authentic techniques, rhythm, and cultural significance of Bihu—Assam’s most celebrated folk dance. The final performance showcased the dedication and artistic excellence of dancers from the community, reflecting the success of the initiative.

Organized in memory of Maimat Tatinga and Senimai, the workshop served as a heartfelt tribute while fostering cultural preservation, community participation, and youth engagement. The initiative reinforced the importance of safeguarding traditional performing arts and passing them on to future generations.
