Indore Municipal Corporation has set a remarkable environmental record for the “Maximum Trees Planted in a Day at a Single Location and Maintained for Two Years,” with a total of 13,10,012 plants successfully maintained under the initiative.
The large-scale plantation drive was carried out under the leadership of Dr. Mohan Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh; Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development and Housing, Government of Madhya Pradesh; and Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, Hon’ble Mayor of Indore.
The achievement was not limited to planting a large number of trees in a single day. A major part of the record involved ensuring that the plantation was maintained continuously for two years. Indore Municipal Corporation undertook systematic watering, protection, monitoring and maintenance of the plantation to support the survival and growth of the trees over the two-year period. This long-term commitment distinguished the initiative from conventional mass plantation drives, where the focus often ends after the planting activity itself.
Managing more than 13.10 lakh plants at a single location required extensive planning, manpower and environmental management. The Corporation’s efforts included regular monitoring of the plantation, protection of saplings and sustained watering arrangements to ensure the plants remained properly maintained. The initiative highlighted the importance of combining large-scale plantation with long-term care to create a meaningful and lasting environmental impact.
The record adds another significant environmental milestone for Indore and reflects the city’s commitment to expanding green cover and promoting sustainable urban development. By planting and maintaining 13,10,012 trees for two years, Indore Municipal Corporation has demonstrated that successful plantation campaigns require both scale and sustained responsibility. The achievement stands as an example of how local governments can turn mass plantation initiatives into long-term environmental programmes through consistent maintenance, protection and monitoring.
