Mother India’s Crochet Queens (MICQ) has achieved its sixth World Records title by creating the largest display of crochet squares, featuring an astonishing 100,581 handcrafted crochet squares. The record-breaking display was unveiled in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, surpassing the previous record of 58,168 crochet squares and showcasing the extraordinary creativity and dedication of thousands of women artisans.
Led by Subashri Natarajan, MICQ has grown into a global movement that empowers women through the art of crochet. Bringing together a network of more than 1,500 crochet enthusiasts from around the world, the organization encourages women to develop valuable skills that can be transformed into opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, and charitable initiatives.
The initiative goes beyond setting world records by promoting the philosophy of “Learn, Yarn, and Earn,” enabling women to achieve financial independence while nurturing creativity and community spirit. MICQ also conducts crochet training programs for young girls and women across villages and cities, helping preserve the traditional craft while creating sustainable livelihoods.
