India delivered a strong performance in shooting at the Asian Games in Nagoya, securing the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event, while China claimed gold with a new world record.
The Indian trio of Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane combined for an impressive total of 1890.1 points, earning second place in the team competition.
China produced a record-breaking performance to capture gold with 1899.0 points, improving its previous world record by 0.6 points. South Korea secured the bronze medal after recording a team total of 1884.2 points.
India also enjoyed success in the individual qualification round. Rudrankksh scored 631.8 points, placing third, while Himanshu recorded 630.0 points to finish seventh. Both shooters advanced to the individual final.
Parth narrowly missed qualification for the individual final after finishing 10th with a score of 628.3 points.
The men’s team silver added to India’s success at the shooting range. Earlier, Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combined to secure silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, with Elavenil also adding an individual medal.
India entered the competition with a strong shooting legacy after collecting a record 22 shooting medals—seven gold, nine silver and six bronze—at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
