The Indian Institute of Architects Sets World Record with Largest Architectural Camping Congregation

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Malappuram Centre, has achieved a remarkable World Record for organizing the Largest Camping Congregation of the Architectural Community in the Country (Kalam 1.0). Held at Seagot Banasura Resorts, Wayanad, Kerala, the unique event brought together 222 participants, including 191 licensed architects and 31 architecture students, creating an inspiring platform for professional networking, collaboration, and creative exchange.

Unlike conventional conferences, Kalam 1.0 was designed to foster meaningful interactions in a natural environment, encouraging architects and students to engage in open discussions, exchange ideas, and strengthen professional relationships beyond formal settings. The event combined learning, creativity, and recreation to provide a refreshing experience for the architectural fraternity.

Key highlights of the gathering included the launch of Kalam 2.0, design ideation exercises, and a range of community-building activities such as trekking, campfire networking, and collaborative discussions. These activities encouraged innovation, knowledge sharing, and the development of fresh perspectives on architecture and design while strengthening the sense of community among participants.
